Like many people these days, I have a thunderstorm in my head and a flooding in my heart. So many elements of the world feel like they’re unraveling. We’re caught in a tidal wave, rushing to catch each other before the next wave comes crashing. This brings to light the visceral interdependence of how our need for relationship is essential for us all to make it through this chaotic time. The blessing in this chaos is that so many people are seeking out each other and seeking ways to take action to bring the world back into balance. 

What this has meant for Nobis Project is a flurry of collaborations over the summer, leading to the creation of many new resources to respond to the times. We are excited to share the products of these collaborations, many stemming from our Virtual Think Tank held in July. These new offerings include:

• Virtual Field Study Opportunities  for schools (and other groups) to experience our Savannah program on Race, Power & the Preservation of African American History & Gullah Geechee Culture. 
• Service-Learning Projects for schools to collaborate with Nobis Project. One example is for schools to partner with Nobis Project to create student led Virtual Community Forums – on such topics as:
  • Black Land Matters
  • How to Make Structural Change
  • Unpacking the Dominant Narrative of Blackness
• New lesson and facilitation guide on creating Podcasts and conducting Oral Histories (coming later this fall).

The heart of Nobis Project’s work over the last 12 years is working with educators and youth leaders to create a more just, sustainable, and equitable world. The necessity of this work is more critical than ever.
